Why We’re Phasing Out the TRB500

The TRB500 has been a reliable 5G gateway for countless industrial applications since its launch. However, as 5G technology continues to evolve, so do our product standards. The introduction of 5G Release 16 and the growing adoption of embedded connectivity solutions have made it the right moment to transition to a more capable successor. 

By streamlining our portfolio and introducing the TRB501, we are aligning with higher performance, improved efficiency, and broader feature integration – ensuring better long-term support and future-proof operation. 

Key differences 

* Please note that the first TRB501 production batch does not include eSIM, while all subsequent batches will feature both eSIM and bootstrap connectivity pre-enabled. 

The TRB501 introduces several key technical upgrades

• 5G Release 16 module, which offers better spectral efficiency, reduced latency, and improved network synchronization – essential for real-time and industrial automation use cases. 

  
  

• Enhanced power efficiency, enabling more stable performance in high-demand environments. 

  
  

• Higher throughput, with a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet interface for faster and more reliable data transfer. 

Together, these enhancements ensure a smoother transition for existing deployments while preparing businesses for future 5G advancements. 

eSIM and Bootstrap Connectivity 

The TRB501 introduces built-in eSIM functionality, opening new possibilities for flexible and remotely managed connectivity. What truly sets it apart, however, is the addition of bootstrap connectivity – a mechanism that allows the device to retrieve an eSIM profile even when it has no active internet connection. 

This ensures that the device can come online automatically, connect to the Teltonika Remote Management System (RMS), and begin remote configuration right out of the box.  For large-scale IoT rollouts or deployments in remote areas, this feature greatly simplifies logistics and minimizes downtime during setup.
