  • EXPANDING BEST-SELLER PORTFOLIO WITH 3 NEW DEVICES

In this webinar, we will be introducing THREE of our latest 4G LTE products at once! EXPANDING BEST-SELLER PORTFOLIO WITH 3 NEW DEVICES Friday, 14 January 2022 at 9:00:00 UTC Register In this webinar, we will be introducing THREE of our latest 4G LTE products at once! SPEAKERS Questions & Answers Is it possible to restore configuration from backup file from old to new devices? Or new configuration on new device need to be done? If we refer for example RUT955 as old and RUT956 as new, then yes - switching between RUT955 to RUT956 needs a new configuration on a new device. Will RUT241, RU951, RUT956 be using Quectel or Meig modules? There will be both module options. As the SD card is eliminated in RUT956, are there an alternate solution provided? Due to the different architecture compared with RUT955, the SD card option has to be removed from RUT956. If a device with an SD card is needed, you can choose RUT955. Does going from RUT240 to RUT241, from RUT955 to RUT956 and so on solve the existing global shoratage scenario in some way for chipsets and semiconductors? The main idea to introduce these new devices, basically was to avoid any disturbances in the supply chain and be able to provide our devices to the customers. So these new devices and changes made to them allows us to solve the issues caused by the global chipset and semiconductor shortage. Does RUT956 and RUT951 have DNV certification? RUT956 and RUT951 are new devices and we are working with the certification process. As usual, we are thrilled to announce that we have updated Teltonika Networks RutOS to version v.R_00.07.01. So, we invite you to take a minute and walk through the most important highlights of our software’s latest additions and changes. RUTOS COMES TO RUT240! Just like the last update unlocked the full potential of RutOS for RUT9** family routers joining a previous group of RUTX**, RUT3**, and TRB** series products, now it also welcomes our all-time bestseller RUT240. Having all devices on the same platform will enable more streamlined firmware updates and more available functionalities. That also means that the devices will receive OpenWRT and Kernel updates simultaneously as all the rest of the products using RutOS. So, users may expect a new upgraded, more interactive UI, faster and more fluid performance based on Vue.js, and multiple new features to enable even more streamlined applications and business opportunities. Without further ado, let's go over the most exciting news behind the latest version of Teltonika Networks software. WIRELESS MESH Although we have been offering Mesh functionality for a while, the latest update will simplify its’ configuration. From now on, RutOS supports the Wireless Mesh 802.11s standard. It provides a faster alternative to connect various wireless devices to the network without setting up infrastructure (including creating access points, stations, or hotspots). Operating on Layer 2, 802.11s allows the nodes to see one another like plugged into a switch. Mesh networks are valued for reliability, resilience, and simple management. They are most often used in the enterprise, hospitality, or industrial environments. IT administrators love Mesh networks due to their easy configuration applicable to multiple devices at once and self-healing properties. However, for a quick transition between wireless devices, Fast Roaming also must be enabled. FAST ROAMING 802.11r standard is an amendment to the previous 802.11 that allows seamless connection continuity of wireless devices in motion. It enables quick and insensible client transitions from one access point to another. The connection switches to an alternative Access Point (AP) based on the distance instead of operating based on the network load. Whenever the wireless device moves too far from the AP, it connects to another one that becomes closer at the time. However, the process happens so quickly that it does not affect the connection, and the users do not notice the switch happening. Guess what? We are also using this functionality in the Teltonika Networks office. It is a perfect option for enterprise entities with many employees using laptops and various other wireless devices. It helps ensure that they enjoy the same high-quality connection even when moving around different office areas. Generally, Fast Roaming is a great tool to provide a smooth Wi-Fi experience in any establishment taking up large areas, like shopping malls, airports, event venues, and many other public places. MULTI WI-FI STATION PRIORITY CONFIGURATION Now you may enjoy Wi-Fi Station (STA) priority configuration support on devices running RutOS. It means that, besides sharing Wi-Fi for the Clients, our router can also act as a Client itself. With priority support, you may add a list of Wi-Fi Stations and enable the router to choose the best available option according to predefined criteria. An excellent example of a possible application scenario is an intercity bus going through various stations. While on the road, the router uses 4G connectivity to supply internet for the ticketing terminal, Hotspot, and other devices as needed. However, whenever the bus comes to one of the stations, it automatically switches the connection to a known Wi-Fi network. The router's STA list includes SSIDs of Wi-Fi networks across all bus stations on the way. It predefines which network the bus will connect to for data exchange, resulting in optimal connectivity and reducing data costs. MORE FLEXIBILITY WITH SNMP Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) enables remotely monitoring connected devices within a network. SNMP is not new to RutOS. However, we have extended its' capabilities by adding Input/Output (I/O) support. Now, besides watching over various other parameters via SNMP, you may also check the status of Inputs and Outputs. The information is conveyed in real-time, and you may also set up alerts for specific events. That can be especially handy in factory automation solutions, where many machines, including legacy ones, use I/Os for control and communication. NEW VPN PROTOCOL Security has always been an area of primary focus for us. Just as providing flexibility for our clients and affording them the tools they find suitable for their projects. As such, we have already been offering an extensive list of available VPN services, including OpenVPN, Zerotier, IPsec, Wireguard, GRE, and numerous others. This time, by request from our clients, we decided to add yet another option for our users - Tinc. This VPN daemon uses tunneling and encryption to create a secure private network between hosts on the Internet. Appearing to the IP level network code as a standard network device, it does not require any adaptation with existing software. This VPN is a better fit for more advanced users since it does not have a web interface, at least for now. IMPROVED IPSEC THROUGHPUT FOR RUTX** ROUTERS IPsec is one of the few most popular VPN tunnels protecting data exchange by using cryptographic security services. However, this process results in an “overhead” added to each packet entering the tunnel, requiring higher bandwidth than the actual packet size to get through the IPsec tunnel. With the latest update, we have more than doubled the IPsec throughput for RUTX** series routers. So, this newest improvement means that our users do not need to compromise performance over security and may enjoy both. EVENTS REPORTING There are two significant updates to events reporting. The first one is called “New Wi-Fi client.” As the name suggests, it allow monitoring new clients and analyzing public Wi-Fi. It helps handle security threats by ensuring no unauthorized devices can join the network and cause damage. In 2021 there was a 600% increase in cyberattacks, and, as we know, a considerable part of them happens due to vulnerabilities in Wi-Fi networks. “Topology state” report added to RUT9**, RUT3**, and RUT2** devices alerts about the changes in the network topology. It is similar to the previously discussed one but is more focused on physical security breaches from within the network. Whenever someone adds or removes a device, the network administrator gets notified and can prevent harm. RUTOS SAYS “GUTEN TAG!” Good news to all of the German speakers using our devices! After a bit of break, the German language is back to Teltonika Networks products. We hope this will enhance the user experience for our German-speaking users. Please note that some newer features may still need a little while to get fully translated, but most of RutOS can already be enjoyed in Deutsch. FAILOVER AND LOAD BALANCING RULES You may now determine how load balancing should occur in multi-WAN devices with the newly added Failover/Load balancing “Policies” and “Rules” configuration support. Adding new rules became super simple and can be completed through the web interface. For example, you may now specify which traffic you want to failover or load-balance. Let's say you wish to increase browsing speed. In such a case, all you need to do is create a rule to load-balance this kind of traffic and spread it over two modems. BASE UPDATE Being a customized OpenWRT software, RutOS base got updated with the OpenWRT version 21.02. That means our system became better optimized and more secure after completing the latest bug fixes, eliminating vulnerabilities, and adding new supported components. You may check for more details in the changelog available on our Wiki . Along with the OpenWRT, the Linux Kernel got updated to version 5.4.147. Please visit the OpenWRT webpage for the complete list of updated features. WEBINAR Making sense of technical information can be complicated, and it's always easier if someone explains these things in detail with visual elements and application examples. If you feel such a live experience would benefit you, we suggest attending our webinar on the latest RutOS updates, where we will go through each of them in detail. The webinar will include a live Q&A, so you will have a chance to get all of your questions answered by our expert presenter! ACCESS RUTOS CHANGELOG LIKE THIS STORY? Share it with friends! • Discover RutOS 7.09 for your networking solutions

Teltonika has launched the latest version of RutOS, version 7.09, to improve your networking solutions. Click here to learn more. More News 1/28/2026 Meet Altos: The Wi-Fi 7 Router Invited to Your Living Room 1/21/2026 Managed vs unmanaged switches: choose the right fit 1/20/2026 Password Security Standards – Best Practices to Protect your Devices Discover RutOS 7.09 for your networking solutions 8 October 2024 We always listen to our clients’ wishes to improve our flagship operating system, RutOS, for your networking solutions’ needs. Our R&D team has worked relentlessly and tirelessly to provide you even more updates and new possibilities. So, without further do, let’s dive deeper and check it out! What’s new and exciting? Each new version of RutOS brings new and excited features for your networking solutions. This time, let’s begin our list with... VXLAN protocol For your networking solutions to thrive, the latest version of RutOS, version 7.09, supports the Virtual Extensible LAN protocol (VXLAN), allowing your network to support more virtual networks. Generally, VLAN identifiers are 12-bit long, limiting your network to 4094 VLANs. However, the VXLAN protocol uses a longer network identifier, allowing for up to 16 million VXLANs which results in better network isolation for large networks. One of the main benefits of VXLAN is allowing Layer 2 (L2) communication through a 5G network. Industrial networking solutions often have IT systems that rely on L2 technology, such as multicast, operating via Ethernet or Wi-Fi networks . In order to enable protocols like ROS or PROFINET, which are used in such solutions, L2 communication routing through private cellular networks is needed. Another application exhibiting the benefits of VXLAN is providing free Wi-Fi for end clients. End clients using a cellular router’s Wi-Fi needed to get an IP address from a DHCP server on the LAN site of the 5G network. By utilising L2 communication, it’s possible to maximise bandwidth by avoiding L3 overhead, which is crucial for achieving better throughput. Lastly, VXLAN can also make a 5G network completely invisible to end clients, and allows network configurations such as L2 communication and VLAN traffic to be encapsulated and transmitted seamlessly across the 5G network. Hotspot speeds Another great update for your networking solutions is improved hotspot speeds. From now on, all our routers equipped with a hotspot feature provide not only undisrupted connectivity but also hotspot speed almost equal to the router’s maximum speed. This enhances the quality of Internet access, allowing for faster downloads, smoother streaming, and quicker data transfer. For instance, imagine that you’re operating a taxi service . Your clients would expect not only a polite driver, high-quality service, and quickly reaching their destinations, but also a hotspot with seamless connectivity. So, using our networking devices with improved hotspot speeds will allow you to stay competitive! Docker support With RutOS version 7.09 also comes support of the Docker software , allowing you to package and run applications , such as ones for machine learning, monitoring, developer tools, and more, in a loosely isolated environment called a container . Currently, this support is available only for our RUTC50 5G router , due to its ability to support Docker memory requirements. In order to run containers on RutOS, you can use the Docker run command, which provides an efficient way to manage and execute applications. If you need to pull container images, use Docker pull to download them from Docker Hub or other registries. You can list available images with Docker images and remove unused ones with Docker rmi to manage your storage effectively. Once you have your containers, you can manage their lifecycle using Docker commands, such as start a container, stop, restart, or remove it entirely. To gain insight into the configuration and status of a running container, you can use Docker inspect . Additionally, troubleshooting and monitoring container output is made easy with the Docker logs command, which provides access to application logs. A great example of Docker’s benefits for your networking solutions is network monitoring and management. For instance, tools like Pi-hole or Netdata can be deployed to monitor network traffic, block ads, and provide analytics. You can set up these services in Docker containers for better isolation and control. For more advanced usage, Docker facilitates container networking, allowing you to expose ports to the RUTC50 5G router or link containers for internal communication. If you need persistent storage, use the -v option with Docker run to create and mount volumes or bind mounts, ensuring data persists across restarts. You can also run lightweight web servers, VPN servers, or DNS services on your RUTC50 5G router, allowing you to isolate different services without installing them directly on the device's base system! Data logging We’ve also added data logging functionality, which allows you to track your networking solutions’ data consumption patterns over time and helps you manage data usage more effectively. Essentially, it can assist in identifying and adjusting your habits accordingly. Increased security makes threats a rarity Maintaining a secure and reliable network is crucial for uninterrupted operations. This is why RutOS version 7.09 comes with numerous enhancements designed to further improve your network’s security! DMVPN dual hub One of these enhancements is the addition of dual hub functionality to Dynamic Multipoint VPN (DMVPN) . The main benefit of DMVPN is its secure routing technique used to build a VPN network with multiple sites without having to statically configure all connectivity devices. It’s called a Hub and Spoke network, where sites are able to communicate with each other directly without having to go through the hub. Moreover, the dual hub functionality allows for redundancy, ensures continuous connectivity and prevents downtime. This functionality allows to connect to two DMVPN servers, so if one of them fails, the other takes over, maintaining network operations without interruption. This setup enhances reliability and prevents downtime in case of disrupted connectivity. SSH protocol Lastly, we added new functionality for using the Secure Shell (SSH) protocol for authentication. Previously, when logging into a device's terminal, users were required to use a username and password, with the option to add a security key. In the latest firmware version, we’ve introduced the ability to disable password-based login entirely, allowing users to authenticate with only a security key, password, or combination of both. This provides enhanced flexibility and security in managing access UX updates New notification system With the help of a new bell icon, you can see all of your notifications in one convenient place. Even older notifications will be there, allowing you to easily catch up on missed updates and stay informed about everything that’s happened. Mobile band frequency In previous RutOS versions, frequency bands were listed numerically (e.g., B1, B2, etc.), making it impossible to discern the specific frequency of each band. From now on, the specific frequency is now included as part of the list of frequencies. This enhances clarity and allows for more precise network management. Modem updates When your modem is updating, RutOS will now show you the completion percentage. This way, you can monitor the update’s progress in real time and estimate how long it would take. Test it for yourself! We’re delighted with this new version of RutOS, and hope you’ll find it just as wonderful. For SMB network administrators and business owners across retail, hospitality, and corporate environments , the constant challenge is juggling rising data demands with fragmented management systems. Teltonika is proud to close that gap with the launch of the TAP400 Wi-Fi 6 access point, a high-performance device engineered to deliver immediate capacity gains, seamless coverage, and unified control for enterprise solutions . Unified Ecosystem: Teltonika’s Single Pane of Glass This is where the TAP400 truly shines as the best enterprise access point for SMB segment. Are you tired of fragmented operational headaches, needing separate platforms for network diagnostics, device password management, and remotely accessing connected equipment that is crucial to your business? The TAP400 is part of the bigger Teltonika’s open ecosystem, which eliminates this complexity. Its integration with the Remote Management System (RMS) creates a true single pane of glass for your entire connected solution, spanning both your network devices and vital enterprise IoT assets. RMS is the only platform that offers visibility and control over virtually ANY device in the network. RMS Connect is the competitive "killer feature" here. It enables secure, remote access to the WebUI or CLI of 3rd-party devices connected to your network through the TAP400 Wi-Fi 6 access point. This vendor-agnostic capability allows you to manage everything – routers, third-party switches, cameras, or even remote Windows and Linux machines – from one IoT platform, drastically cutting down operational costs and accelerating troubleshooting across your entire wireless infrastructure. Wi-Fi 6 Efficiency for Enterprise IoT The most immediate benefit of the TAP400 lies in its core technology. To fully understand its value, one must recognize the fundamental shift from Wi-Fi 5 to Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ac to 802.11ax). Wi-Fi 6 is not simply about boosting a single device's peak speed; it’s about efficiency and capacity planning for the modern SMB network. Older standards struggled when multiple devices needed to talk to the access point simultaneously. The TAP400, however, is purpose-built for an enterprise IoT multi-device world. It uses techniques like OFDMA to better manage simultaneous traffic, effectively creating express lanes for your data. This is critical for managing the explosion of enterprise IoT devices – from inventory trackers to security cameras. The TAP400 Wi-Fi 6 access point ensures that every device, whether a staff laptop or a point-of-sale terminal, gets reliable bandwidth without waiting in a long digital queue. Understanding the Shift: Wi-Fi 5 vs Wi-Fi 6 To fully grasp this technical benefit, it helps to recognize the fundamental shift from Wi-Fi 5 to Wi-Fi 6. Previous generations, including Wi-Fi 5, excelled at improving the data rate for a single connected user. However, what is Wi-Fi 6 notable for? This Wi-Fi technology represents a quantum leap in multi-user management. When comparing Wi-Fi 5 vs Wi-Fi 6, the true distinction is efficiency: the newer standard allows the access point to communicate with multiple clients simultaneously, rather than sequentially. It’s the difference between forcing a dozen people to wait for one slow checkout line and opening several express lanes at once. This mechanism ensures significantly better and more stable performance in dense client environments. Enhanced Capacity and Seamless Coverage Even with enhanced Wi-Fi 6 efficiency, a network is only as strong as its weakest link. The TAP400 access point is designed to eliminate physical bottlenecks and guarantee continuity across the physical space. For businesses struggling with slow speeds under heavy client load, the problem often lies in the limited bandwidth of the Ethernet connection leading back to the switch. The TAP400 addresses this by incorporating a dedicated 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet uplink. This critical hardware choice ensures the access point is able to handle the full throughput generated in high-demand, multi-client scenarios. Furthermore, the TAP400 access point ensures always-on coverage by fully supporting Fast Roaming and Wi-Fi Mesh . Fast Roaming is essential for maintaining session continuity in dynamic spaces like small hotels, ensuring a user's connection remains intact as they move between different coverage zones. At the same time, Mesh Wi-Fi capability offers agile network expansion, an invaluable feature for older buildings where installing new cables is impractical. With its robust, UV-stabilized plastic and aluminium casing , the TAP400 is a built-to-last enterprise access point that delivers optimal performance and simplified control. Coupled with RMS, it’s the most cost-effective solution for gaining full visibility over your whole enterprise network. Upgrade your business capacity and gain total network control. Introducing Remote Management System - VPN Tuesday, 24 August 2021 at 5:00:00 UTC Register Remote Management System allows you to be in control of your connected solution. SPEAKERS Questions & Answers On the VPN: If we have RUT1 with LAN1 and RUT2 with LAN2, can we route LAN1 and LAN2 together? So a ressource on LAN1 can communicate with a ressource on LAN2 Yes, it is possible to route one router LAN to another for access. Will RMS Connect and RMS VPN have different pricing? RMS Connect and RMS VPN use the same pool of available data that each RMS company has. To get more of this data, you can buy it using RMS credits. When it will be posible to force the use of two factor autentication? Some RMS functionalities (like RMS API, Task manager) already force the use of multi factor authentication. Is 1 credit about 5GB? 1 credit = 2 GB of company data. Each new RMS company initially gets 5 GB of free data. Will unused data expire after 30 days? Unused RMS company data does not expire. Validity of each one credit is 1 month? Credits that are assigned to devices are valid for 30 days. Unused credits do not have an expiration date. Is it possible to simultanously open several VPN Tunnels ? You can create multiple VPN hubs, and the hubs themselves support any number of clients. How to add routes to all devices in subnet? For example, if you create a route with the IP address 192.168.5.0 and the netmask 255.255.255.0, you will be able to reach all devices in the 192.168.5.1 – 192.168.5.255 range. Can we track how much data each VPN connection consumes? Yes, each connection’s data usage is tracked while it is actively connected to the VPN hub. Total data used by the hub is also tracked and all of this is visible in the General tab of the VPN hub. Is there a possibility to connect PLC With RMS for control and monitoring? It is currently not possible to connect non-Teltonika devices to RMS. However, using RMS VPN or RMS Connect you can manage any devices that are connected to your RMS-connected device. Is the manual adding of routes only necessary for IP-ranges/addresses outside the local networks outside the LAN defined on the RUTs - right? The routes are necessary to reach any devices that are connected to the VPN client that is added to the hub. For example, to reach a PLC that is connected to an RMS-connected RUT device, you need to add a route. Can we manage users and access using the API? Yes, you can manage your RMS users using the RMS API. Can you assign to SSID? So users on different wireless networks are routed through different VPNs? There is currently no automatic client assigning by SSID. You would have to manually add the clients to the corresponding hub. Can we activate and deactivate the VPN at the remote unit itself using our own program running on the TRB245/255? Yes, you can enable and disable the VPN from the device's side. Will I pay you a usage fee after purchasing a VPN gateway device? All new devices added to RMS have 1 month of free trial service (not including RMS Connect and RMS VPN), after which to keep the device in RMS, there is a price of 1 credit per 30 days. My customer wants to create a point-to-point connection between 2 Teltonika routers. Would VPN be the better solution? Devices that are connected to the VPN hub can reach each other, but it is not a direct point to point connection, as the connection goes through the hub itself. VPN Hub hosted by Teltonika Network. Can the customer host a VPN hub at their site? Such as VM Hub? No, that is currently not possible. If mobile failover is used, does the SIM card need to have a fixed IP address for the VPN service to work. The device must have an internet connection and has to be able to simply reach RMS - if it has a static or dynamic IP address is irrelevant. Is it possible to configure VPN remotely via LTE network without RMS device? You can use the VPN hubs without RMS-connected devices, and just using the RMS users and custom users as your VPN clients. I have not seen an extra fee for VPN Gateway alternative products. It costs 1 credit per 2GB, is it true? Yes, you can pay 1 credit to receive 2 GB of data that can be used by all of your RMS company devices. Does both RUT (using SIM card without public IP address) can connect together by VPN hub? Yes, if both devices are connected to RMS, then they can both be added to the VPN hub and be reachable by each other without having a public IP address. Does RMS VPN hub keeps historic usage logs? Is it possible to set data usage limits? You cannot currently set a data limit for your VPN hub. RMS VPN logs will be added in the future. Is it possible to use the routers RMS functionality with a custom backend, not using the Teltonika RMS/backend? This can be done using the RMS API How can I reach a device with static IP Adress that is out of range of my teltonika dhcp server with vpn If your device is added to a VPN hub, they get assigned a separate private IP address, that can be used to reach the device. Is it possible to connect between two or more Teltonika devices using RMS VPN? Yes, if you connect several Teltonika devices to the VPN hub, the devices will be able to reach each other. What's the price for 1 credit ? You can contact any of our resellers . Can you verify that using RMS there is no need for static IP addressed SIMS that are getting harder to get hold of. Yes, you do not need a public IP to connect your device to RMS. All the device needs in an internet connection. Is it possible with RMS VPN to connect two Networks (Factories) that use the same IP address area (i.e. 192.168.0.0/24)? How does RMS make the separation of those „identical“ remote Networks? RMS VPN currently does not allow adding two identical routes to a VPN hub, therefore your proposed setup would only work if the end devices in your networks would have unique IP addresses. Can I use the same local IP range on different routers and use RMS VPN? If you wish to access the routers themselves using the RMS VPN, then you can do so, as all clients get assigned a separate private IP addresses. We would like to host the whole RMS + RMS VPN in our Data Center and possibly pay a subscription fee for the software. RMS VPN will be added to the on-premise version of RMS in the future. Please contact our sales department for more information. Is the secure tunnelling achieved via AWS? Yes, all RMS VPN servers are hosted in AWS. Can I connect devices with TCP IP and Modbus protocols by using RMS VPN? Yes, you can. I have several PLCs from different brands, which support different protocols and are all connected to the same TRB245/255 unit. Will I be able to access all of them remotely? Depending on the protocol, you should be able to access the different brands of PLC connected to the TRB units.
