THE CHALLENGE OF DEPLOYING WORKPLACE SAFETY BOARDS WITHOUT CABLING

How many days have passed since the last incident at your workplace? And no, spilling your morning coffee or accidentally deleting a spreadsheet doesn't count as a safety violation. In heavy-duty industrial environments, tracking safety isn't just about statistics – it's about visibility, awareness, and keeping everyone safe.

That’s why manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and construction sites require a highly visible workplace safety board to track incident-free periods. Ampron solves this LED workplace safety board connectivity challenge by using the RUT200 4G router as an edge-computing bridge. This setup allows the system to display two real-time safety metrics on the factory floor: consecutive incident-free days and the historical record streak.

The core of the system is the Ampron LED controller, which connects to the RUT200 via a LAN port. Running its own onboard web server and tracking logic, this controller drives the LED display modules to deliver real-time digit segments.

To adjust settings or update dates, authorized staff members simply connect their smartphone, tablet, or laptop to the RUT200 LTE router running in Wi-Fi Access Point mode. Opening a browser-based UI allows them to send local HTTP GET requests directly to the controller's IP address, completely bypassing the need to integrate into the factory's main IT infrastructure or run long network cabling.

For quick on-site updates, a physical reset button on the factory floor connects directly to the RUT200 digital input pin. Utilizing the built-in RutOS Event Juggler feature, the router automatically detects when the button is pressed and fires an internal HTTP GET request over the LAN to the LED controller.

This hardware-level integration includes built-in debounce protection and eliminates the need for extra microcontrollers or custom firmware just to handle a physical button.

By combining local wireless control with direct I/O triggers, this setup creates a self-contained, plug-and-play workplace safety LED display.
